YOUR VILLAGE NEEDS YOU. In 2018 the Hambleton In Bloom and Best Kept Village committee resigned and despite many attempts to rally new volunteers, there was very little response. However the committee went out on a high with awards aplenty and it is with regret and many thanks for the many years of work, we say goodbye to the committee. The work involved for these 2 groups is, for now, falling within the Parish Council and we continue to ask for help and support for these 2 highly prestigious competitions.

In 2019 we are looking for residents of Hambleton to support Hambleton In Bloom by sponsoring a flower tub that will be placed around the vilage. The minimum donation to sponsor a tub is £25 and for this we will arrange to have them planted up with a sign attached to the tub with your name or some other suitable wording eg "In memory of....". If you would like to sponsor a tub please contact the Clerk to the Council. Numbers are limited and requests will be dealt with on a first come first served basis.

If you would like to get involved in supporting the village in more practical ways we are looking for volunteers (individuals or groups) to adopt an area near you by committing to water and weed a planted area as required throughout the summer. Working with Cutts Lane Nurseries the Parish Council will arrange for the areas to be planted in Springtime but once planted a little TLC is required.

Why not join the monthly litter pick, this event not only helps to make the village a place to be proud of but it provides exercise and is a social event for all that attend. The event starts and ends at the Shovels Inn, pickers and rubbish bags are provided and is usually followed by an optional visit to the Shovels for a welcome drink and a natter. Details for each month are in the Hambleton Newsletter and the Wyre Focus magazine (Green Book).

On the second Saturday of each month the Parish Council hold a Bob Williamson Park working group between 9.30 to 11.30, if you would like to help to keep the park safe and well come along on the day or, if you would like more information, contact the Clerk on 07703 773 785.
